Windows 11: features and tricks to get the most out of the operating system (Part 4)

Save any website to PDF If you need to save a web page as a PDF , you don't need to install any apps or go through too much trouble. Windows allows you to save websites as PDFs as an alternative to printing them, and then also lets you view these files with your browser, a feature that other alternative browsers like Chrome have also implemented. Go to the page you want to save as a PDF. Press Control + P to open the print options for the web. Open the Destination menu where the printer appears. Choose the Save as PDF option . Click the Save button below. Open multiple instances of the same app Windows 11 has inherited a neat trick from its predecessors that allows you to open the same app more than once , and have both instances behave independently of each other. This way, if you have a task that requires changing a setting for that app, you can open it twice and perform it separately. All you have to do is middle-click the app icon in the...

Windows 11: features and tricks to get the most out of the operating system (Part 2)

The idea is that if you're using Windows or Windows 11 for the first time, you'll have the tools to master its features and get the most out of it. We also want to help power users discover some new things on our list. And as we always say at Xataka Basics, if you're a Windows 11 expert and there's a good trick we've missed, we invite you to share it with everyone in the comments section . That way, less-experienced users can also benefit from the knowledge of our users. Access the old Windows 10 right-click menu Windows 11 is changing the context menu for the first time in a long time. This means that when you right-click on an item, the menu that appears is new, and it lacks many features that the Windows 10 context menu had . Fortunately, you always have the option to explore that other menu with the rest of the options. All you have to do is right-click on an item and click Show more options , which is the last option listed in the context menu. Th...

Windows 11: features and tricks to get the most out of the operating system (Part 1)

We're bringing you a compilation of 42 features or tricks for Windows 11 , with which we hope you'll have the tools to fully master the operating system. With these, you'll learn to master new and old Windows features, as well as how to use other, more hidden or lesser-known features. Put the start menu on the left The main feature of Windows 11 is the change to its Start menu. Not only because it's getting rid of the tile system we saw in Windows 8 and Windows 10, but also because it now resides in the center of the screen. But if this latest change bothers you, you can move the Start menu back to the left of the taskbar to where it always has been. To move the start menu to the left , go to Windows settings. Inside, tap on Personalization . Within the customization options, click on Taskbar . Here, click on the Taskbar Behavior section. Click on Taskbar Alignment , and change Center to choose the Left option . Configure the start m...

Differences between Windows To Go and a typical installation of Windows

Windows To Go is no longer being developed. The feature does not support feature updates and therefore does not enable you to stay current. It also requires a specific type of USB that is no longer supported by many OEMs. Windows To Go is a feature in Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education that enables the creation of a Windows To Go workspace that can be booted from a USB-connected external drive on PCs. PCs that meet the Windows 7 or later certification requirements can run Windows 10 in a Windows To Go workspace, regardless of the operating system running on the PC. Windows To Go workspaces can use the same image enterprises use for their desktops and laptops and can be managed the same way. Windows To Go workspace operates just like any other installation of Windows with a few exceptions. Contents: [ hide ] Windows To Go vs.Windows. Windows To Go is not intended to replace desktops, laptops or supplant other mobility offerings.  Rather, it provides sup...

How do I cancel my Windows 10 reservation?

How do I cancel my Windows 10 reservation? Also, how can I prevent Windows 10 from downloading onto my system? I see the 'Get Windows 10' icon in my tray bar, which has been there since June 1st. Originally I wanted the upgrade to Windows 10, but now I'm not sure it's a good idea because I'm concerned that the upgrade might fail or cause problems. I read on the Internet that the 'get windows 10' icon has to do with Microsoft patch KB3035583 , whatever that is. Can you tell me how to remove the Windows 10 reservation? "

Save your work: Microsoft is forcing an update and restart for Windows 10 tonight.

Windows 10 users, save all your work before logging out today. Microsoft is rolling out a major patch today and tonight that will force a system restart. What’s known as “KB3081424” is a cumulative or “rollup” patch, tying together all of the major incremental updates that have already been applied to Windows 10 since the “release” version went live last week. The page listing the downloads goes on and on, though what you’ll actually receive varies with how up-to-date your PC already is. When I manually asked for the update, it completed in a minute or two over a standard broadband connection. If you recently updated to Windows 10, some of these updates may have already been part of your upgrade.

10 Tools I use to help people in solving problems related to Blogger.

For the past month I have been active on various forums , social media channels as well on this blog trying to help people with problems they face with their Blogs based on Blogger Platform. This is a list of tools I used repeatedly to successfully help many people. I hope this would be helpful to those getting started with helping users in solving problems related to Blogger platform or in general also. 1. Dig Web Interface Its really simple tool for checking DNS records of any website. This comes in handy when people are having problems with setting up custom domain on Blogger. With it you can check all the DNS Records ( A , CNAME ,etc)  of both the www version (like http://www.stylifyyourblog.com/ ) or the non-www version (like http://stylifyyourblog.com/ ) Pro Tip : Select the Authoritative option under Nameservers to get accurate records

5 Ways to Customize Windows 8.

Windows 8 also inherits many of the customization options that were available in Windows 7—in the newer OS's desktop mode. Not only can you choose a desktop background, screensaver, and system sounds, but you can also take advantage of downloadable Themes, including some that are dynamically updated throughout the day. And you can now sync your customizations among all Windows 8 PCs you sign into. There are even already some third-party tools that offer Windows 8 customizations, but since there's so much you can do with nothing but the OS's built-in tools, this collection will concentrate on just those.

Top 10 Secret Features in Windows 8

Windows 8 is full of awesome features and handy shortcuts, but what you may not know is that it's got a lot of handy, lesser-known settings under the hood.  Here are 10 of Windows 8's best kept secrets. 10. Run Automatic Maintenance on a Schedule Windows 8 has a new feature that runs automatic maintenance tasks like software updates, security scanning, and other diagnostic tests daily. By default, it runs them at 3AM, of if you're using your computer, the next time your computer becomes idle. You can change this time in the Action Center, as well as tell Windows whether you want to wake your computer up to perform these tasks. You can also perform the maintenance manually from the Action Center, if you desire. 9. Customize the Apps in the Search Bar When you start searching from the Start screen, you'll see a list of apps under the search bar. Click on one of them, and you'll search those same terms in that specific app. What...
